We all see coaches at the school’s sports team. They help teach, guide and encourage kids to perform better. When it comes to our health, we over think or hesitate to reach out for help or guidance. Let’s uncover the stigma around getting help to reach our goals. Let’s talk about what really health coaching is and what a health coach can do for you.

WHAT IS A HEALTH COACH?


A health coach is your mentor who guides you; keeps you accountable until you reach your desired goals. Together with the client health coach makes a list of goals that are realistic and doable. Then take action steps towards achieving those goals. Health coach keeps an open and beginner’s mind and meets the client where they are, and keep them motivated.



WHAT HEALTH COACH IS NOT?


A health coach is not a medical doctor, so they can’t give medical advice. Even though after sessions clients usually say they feel lighter, clearer felt heard, and their session was therapeutic, but health coach is not a therapist. Health coaching is very different than therapy. Regardless you will see results in your emotional well-being while working with a health coach because physical and emotional go hand in hand.


WHO HIRES A COACH?


Many successful people like celebrities, business executives have their personal coach but the fact is not public knowledge. Many people work with a life coach, health coach, or business coach. We need to destigmatize the truth that many executives and successful entrepreneurs have a coach rather than carry on the myth that we are ‘doing it alone”. The truth is NO ONE does it; we all get help.

A good coach will ask you insightful questions and help you make better decisions. If you show up and do the work with your coach, you should see great results in 3 to 6 months.
