We all know any type of movement is important for our physical and emotional well-being. Not only exercising at the gym for an hour is important, but moving all day is also critical. Since we are bio-individuals, it’s up to us to figure out what works for us and what doesn’t work. Always try to start small and give it a big priority. Even 5-10 minutes of movement for a more extended time makes an impact. Don’t associate exercise with just 1-hour workout at the gym. Doing house chores like vacuuming, mopping, gardening, dancing, walking, yoga, etc., are all forms of exercises.
Let’s discuss a few ways we can benefit from moving around.
First and most of all, movement can be done anywhere and anytime. It supports metabolism and helps you lose weight. This lifestyle promotes a healthy weight and keeps you in good shape all the time. Movement can be of different types.
For example: Breathing exercises strengthen the lungs, heart, and immune system. It also improves energy levels, stamina and cognitive functions. This is a simple exercise yet very effective. Weight-bearing exercises increase muscle strength and bone density, hence reduces injury and chronic pain.
Exercising also increases insulin sensitivity and the body’s ability to clear glucose effectively. Additionally it helps keep hormones in balance, and help lose weight.
Exercising makes you emotionally strong by reducing depression and anxiety. Walks in nature keep you grounded and produce endorphins (feel-good hormones).
Stretching after waking up and before going to sleep improves sleep quality.
Last but not least, exercising increases self-esteem, body confidence, and feelings of empowerment.
I hope this list encourages you to get out of your seats and move around. Let’s support our bodies physically and emotionally and be an example for others.
